A small structure fire caused great excitement in a town of Troy neighborhood early Saturday morning. River Falls firefighters, EMS and first responders were called to a structure fire in the town of Troy just before 1 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7. County emergency dispatchers indicated the fire was in a buildng on Glenmont Road. The building was described as a narrow greenhouse, about 40 feet long. It was located about 100 feet away from a house where a couple lives with their small child. The property renter did not know what could have caused the fire.

River Falls Fire Department was one of several area fire departments called to aid Spring Valley Fire Department in fighting a fire at Schmitt Timber Corporation, N8539 County Rd. B, in Spring Valley. The first call for Spring Valley Fire came through a little after 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6. According to county dispatchers over police scanner traffic, a building at Schmitt Timber was engulfed in flames. Other fire departments called were United Fire, Elmwood Fire, and EMS, and Ellsworth Fire.
