School for local children is only a couple of weeks away. In the last weeks of summer parents have been busy buying school clothes and supplies. Each school within the district has provided a list of supplies needed for students to acquire by the first day of school -- Tuesday, Sept. 2. This week in River Falls: Friday: Colleen Raye concert: A free community performance will be given by area singer Colleen Raye from 6-7 p.m. at Comforts of Home (assisted living facility), 2348 Aurora Circle. The outdoor patio performance is for all ages and includes free food and refreshments, plus socializing that gets started before the music at 4 p.m.
Kinnickinnic State Park will offer free Learn to Kayak classes statrting on Tuesday Aug. 12. Classes will be held from 4-5 p.m. and meet every Tuesday until Sept.16. The kayak course is for anyone who is 12 years and older (children ages 12-15 must have a parent accompany them).

This week in River Falls: Friday: Tri-Angles picnic: The Tri-Angels picnic from 4-8 p.m. at Hoffman Park in River Falls. There will be a spaghetti and meatball dinner with pizza for race participants and the community. $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 10.

This week in River Falls: Friday: Doll and Buggy Parade: An old fashioned doll and buggy parade will be held at 10 a.m., at Rolling Hills Park (formerly Fox’s Trailer Park). All children are welcome to participate with their decorated bikes, buggies, wagons, etc. Lineup starts at 9:30 a.m. at the park entrance, off Hwy. 35 frontage road, go north on east frontage road off Hwy. 65 (North Main Street).
