River Falls Wildcats

River Falls won five of the final six matches of the night to post a 44-26 victory over New Richmond in a Big Rivers Conference dual in New Richmond Thursday night.

The victory kept the Wildcats undefeated in BRC competition at 3-0 while it was the first BRC loss for the Tigers and left them at 2-1.

The Wildcats led 22-3 after the first five matches thanks to a pin by Miles Longsdorf at 170 pounds, a major decision by Gavin Kohel at 195 and two New Richmond forfeits. The Tigers first points came on a 9-6 decision by Chase Feiner over Owen Larson at 160 pounds.

New Richmond began to surge with back-to-back pins from Caleb Hyman and Ian Sheetz at 220 and 285 pounds, respectively, to cut the Wildcat lead to 22-15 and the Cats forfeited at 106 to make it a one-point match, 22-21, with six matches remaining.

But River Falls won the next four matches with Jonah Longsdorf picking up a 13-3 victory at 113 pounds, Travis Moelter earning a 5-4 decision at 120, Aidan Peterson winning by fall at 126, and Ricardo Ceja winning 6-0 at 132 to widen the Wildcat lead to 38-21.

Bode Gabriel posted a 15-0 technical fall for New Richmond at 138 pounds and James Hampton earned a pin at 145 for River Falls to make the final 44-26.
