River Falls Wildcats

The River Falls softball team matched Chippewa Falls in the hit column, but the Big Rivers Conference leading Cardinals took advantage of four Wildcat errors to score five unearned runs in a 5-0 victory over the Cats Tuesday night, May 25, in Chippewa Falls.

The Cardinals scored all seven of their runs with two outs in the bottom of the third inning.

River Falls had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a double by Jordan Schwantz and an RBI single by Lily Griffin.

Lilly Burke had a pair of singles in the loss as both teams collected five hits.

Avery Amidon allowed three hits over the first 2 ⅔-innings in the circle and was tagged for five unearned runs with two strikeouts and two walks. Ali Laube allowed two hits and two unearned runs with a strikeout and three walks the rest of the way.

The two teams will meet again Thursday, May 27, in River Falls.
