The River Falls girls’ swimming and diving team finished a tough stretch of three meets in six days with a close 108-78 loss at Rice Lake Tuesday night, Sept. 26.
The Wildcats swam a dual against Hudson Thursday, Sept. 23 and took third at the Tartan Invitational Saturday, Sept. 25 before making the long trip to Rice Lake Tuesday night. They’ll get a full nine days off before returning to action at home against Eau Claire North Thursday, Oct. 7.
River Falls won five individual races and a relay Tuesday night at Rice Lake, with Ellery Ottem and Jane Briese winning two individual events each. Ottem took first in the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 10.7 seconds, and the 100 free in 1:00.47, while Briese took the 200 individual medley in 2:39.15 and the 100 butterfly in 1:09.51.
MacKenna Anderson added a first place time of 5:18.93 in the 400 free while the 200 freestyle relay team of Sadie Ottem, Briese, Anderson, and Ellery Ottem won a close race in 2:00.94.
Sadie Ottem contributed a second place time of 1:18.24 in the 100 backstroke and was the Wildcats’ top finisher in the 50 freestyle with a third place time of 31.58 seconds and Rachel Everson placed second in diving with a score of 165.95 while Katie Olson finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:36.69.
The Cats’ 200 medley relay team of Sadie Ottem, Ellery Ottem, Briese and Annie Ottem finished second in 2:15.71, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Stephanie Derks, Lucy Hanson, Olson and Annie Ottem was second in 5:04.31.
