River Falls Wildcats

The River Falls girls’ swimming and diving team received a pair of record-setting performances from junior Ellery Ottem in its first Big Rivers Conference dual meet of the season last week at Eau Claire Memorial.

While Ottem won two events in record-setting fashion, Jane Briese also won a pair of individual events and had a hand in a first place relay finish for the Wildcats against the Old Abes.

Ottem’s winning time of 24.83 seconds was a new Memorial pool record while her time of 1:09. 32 broke her own River Falls school record.

Briese won the 100 butterfly in 1:02.24 and the 200 freestyle in 2:10.34 and teamed up with Annie Ottem, Stephanie Derks and Makenna Anderson for a first place time of 1:57.29 in the 200 freestyle relay.
