Kendall Sundby tallied a hat trick and Kiara Therriault netted two goals to spark the St. Croix Valley Fusion girls hockey team to an 8-2 nonconference victory over Red Wing Tuesday night, Dec. 7, at Wildcat Centre in River Falls.
Red Wing scored the first goal of the game midway through the opening period before the Fusion scored six straight to put the game away.
Sundby’s first goal tied things up at the 12:19 mark of the first period and Sophia John gave the Fusion the lead for good with 48 seconds left before Sundby netted her second goal 1:39 into the second period. Therriault followed with back-to-back goals three minutes apart midway through the period while Trinity Mittl scored with 1:53 left to make it a 6-1 game after two.
Sundby capped her hat trick at the 3:22 mark after a Red Wing goal before Jenna Bergmanis made the final 8-2 with just under four minutes remaining.
Sundby and Therriault added an assist each to finish with four and three point nights, respectively, while Bergmanis, John, Ally Noll, Alayna Brightbill and Alisha Latham had one assist each. Jasmine Peterson finished with 12 saves as the Fusion outshot the Wingers 29-14.
The Fusion, now 3-2-0 overall, will return to action against Superior (3-2-0) Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at the United Civic Center in Baldwin.
