River Falls Wildcats

River Falls’ quarterback Vito Massa threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns and the Wildcats added 215 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to clinch at least a share of the Mississippi Valley Conference title with a 36-27 victory at Onalaska Friday night, Oct. 8.

The victory puts the Wildcats at 6-0 in MVC play (6-3 overall) heading into this week’s regular season finale at Sparta (2-4). Second place West Salem (5-1) will end its regular season at Holmen (2-4).

Massa connected with tight end Ethan Campbell for two scores– on a 29-yard connection on fourth down in the second half, while Jordan Karras also caught a touchdown pass out of the backfield.

Tyler Haydon had both rushing touchdowns for the Wildcats and finished with 128 yards on 10 carries, including a 53-yard burst in the second half to set up his second touchdown run of the game from one yard out.

The Cats also got a 22-yard fourth quarter field goal from Aleck Ross.

Michael Schurman caught four passes for 54 yards in the victory while Cole Evavold carried the ball 22 times for 67 yards.
