Day one of the Northern Badger Wrestling Classic is in the books with host River Falls currently in second place in the team standings and St. Croix Central sitting in fourth.

Amery has the first day lead with 234.0 points followed by River Falls with 206.5, Baldwin-Woodville with 205.5 and St. Croix Central with 190.0.

Both the Wildcats and Panthers will have five wrestlers in today’s semifinals, which get underway at approximately noon at River Falls High School.

Advancing for River Falls were Jonah Longsdorf at 106 pounds, Travis Moelter at 113, Miles Longsdorf at 152, Gavin Kohel at 182 and Vito Massa at 285.

St. Croix Central’s semifinalists are Maverick Kostrzak at 106 pounds, Will Schmitt at 126, David Olson at 145, Owen Wasley at 160 and Devin Wasley at 170.

Following the semifinal round at noon today will be the medal round (3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th) at 2 p.m. with championship matches scheduled for around 4 p.m.
