It helps to have a short memory after a loss.

Two nights after scoring just 38 points in a 50-38 loss to Eau Claire Memorial, River Falls nearly matched that total in the first half against La Crosse Logan, opening up a 37-13 lead at the break on its way to a 64-37 nonconference victory over the Rangers.

River Falls scored the first 17 points of the game and led by 32 at one point in the second half for its sixth win in seven games to start the season.

Jacob Landgraf had the hot hand for the Wildcats early, hitting four 3-pointers in the first half on his way to a 26-point night. The Wildcats finished with nine 3-pointers in the game after making just one two nights earlier against Eau Claire Memorial.

Ethan Campbell contributed 14 points, eight rebounds, one block and two steals in the win and Kaden Rowekamp had nine points and nine boards while Preston Johnson contributed nine points.

Landgraf and Jack Hirstein grabbed five rebounds apiece as the Wildcat outrebounded the Rangers 45-18. Hirstein also had a team-high five assists.

Next up for the Wildcats is a pair of games at the Menomonie Showcase over the holiday break. They’ll take on Tomah Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 12:30 p.m. and Antigo Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 12:30 p.m. at Menomonie High School.
