Alumni hoops tourney this weekend

The sixth annual River Falls High School Boys Basketball Alumni Tournament will be held this Friday and Saturday, April 12-13 at the high school.

This year's tournament features over 40 players making up five teams from the classes of 2001 to 2019 registered to play.

The tournament kicks off with two games Friday night beginning with the 2008-10 alumni facing the 2017-19 alumni at 7 p.m. and the 2001-05 team playing the 2010-13 team at 8 p.m.

Pool play continues Saturday with the 2015-17 alumni facing the 2017-19 squad at 11 a.m. and the 2008-10 team playing the 2011-13 team at noon. Games will continue on the hour with the championship game scheduled for 4 p.m.

All games will consist of two 18-minute halves with the clock stopping only in the last minute of each half if the game is within 10 points.

Concessions will be available and there will be a post game social at a location to be determined. All proceeds will go towards off-season basketball opportunities for the Wildcat basketball team.

Bob Burrows has been sports editor at the River Falls Journal since 1996 and at the Hudson Star-Observer since 2009.
