Boys Basketball: Wildcats keep pace in BRC

The Wildcat boys' basketball team moved into a four-way tie for first place in the Big Rivers Conference with a 55-46 win over Chippewa Falls Friday night, Jan. 11, in River Falls.

The Wildcat victory, coupled with Eau Claire North's win over Eau Claire Memorial and Hudson's win over Rice Lake, leaves the Wildcats, Huskies, Old Abes and Raiders all tied for first place at 4-2.

Friday night's game in River Falls was tied six times, the latest at 44-40 with 3 minutes, 30 seconds remaining, when Zac Johnson hit a three-pointer to give the Wildcat's the lead for good. Adam Feyereisen followed with a drive to make it a five-point game, 49-44, with 2:39 remaining and the Cats scored the rest of their points from the free throw line to seal the win.

Johnson led the Wildcats with 17 points and Feyereisen added 13 points and five assists while Taylor Tirrel contributed 10 points.

Next up for the Wildcats, now 8-4 overall, is a visit to St. Paul Highland Park for a nonconference game Monday, Jan. 14.
