Boys Basketball: Cats fall to DCE in OT

D.C. Everest rallied from eight points down to force overtime, then hit the game-winning three-pointer with two seconds left in the extra session to defeat River Falls, 78-75, in the opening game of the D.C. Everest Holiday Tournament Friday, Dec. 28, in Schofield.

The game featured seven lead changes and six ties with the Wildcats battling back from a seven point deficit at one point to lead by eight late. But the Evergreens chipped away and got a pair of free throws to force overtime before outscoring the Wildcats 8-5 to earn the win.

Taylor Tirrel hit 5-of-7 three-point attempts and finished with a team-high 18 points while Zac Johnson scored 15 and JT Dougherty added 14. Payton Flood contributed eight points and six rebounds while Adam Feyereisen had six points, five rebounds and a season-high 11 assists.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Wildcats and dropped them to 6-2 on the season. They return to Big Rivers Conference action at home against Rice Lake Friday, Jan. 4, at 7:15 p.m.
