The River Falls Fighting Fish had their bats and arms working in their first three St. Croix Valley Baseball League games of the season last week.

The Fish blanked Bay City 5-0 in the SCVBL opener Wednesday, May 29, and beat Hudson 11-4 in a rain-shortened game Friday, May 31, before rolling over Plum City 11-0 Saturday, June 1, to open 3-0 in league play while improving to 8-0 overall.

Kyle Fritz and Andy Kemper combined to strike out 11 Bombers while scattering five hits in Wednesday's 5-0 win over Bay City.

Ty Denzer, Mitchell Feyereisen, Dylan Penny and Andy Metcalf had two hits each and Lucas Luedtke drove in a pair of runs while Brian Giebel added a double.

Friday the Fish were tied 2-2 with Hudson before a rain delay, and when play resumed in the bottom of the third the Fish scored four more runs and never looked back on their way to an 11-4 win.

Trey Larson singled in Denzer for the go-ahead run and Joel Schaffer doubled in Larson while Penny and Josh Eidem added RBIs in the inning.

Larson finished with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI and Giebel singled twice, doubled and drove in three runs while Schaffer had three hits, one RBI and scored twice.

T.J. Wink pitched the first four innings of the seven-inning contest to earn the win, allowing two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks before Matt Doornick struck out six and allowed two earned runs over the final three innings.

The Fish capped their perfect week with Luedtke and Jaxin Larson combining for a four-hit shutout in an 11-0 seven-inning victory Saturday in Plum City.

Luedtke allowed all four hits and struck out three in five innings of work before Larson threw two innings of shutout ball for the mercy-rule win.

Feyereisen had a three-run homer in the win and Luedtke had two hits and three RBI while Denzer was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.

The Fish return to action with a non-league game against the Hastings Hawks Wednesday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. at First National Bank of River Falls Field before returning to SCVBL action at the New Richmond Millers Friday, June 7. They'll continue league play at home Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. against the Elmwood Expos before hosting the Red Wing Aces Wednesday night, June 12.
