UWRF men run streak to seven

The tenth-ranked UW-River Falls men's basketball team won its seventh straight game and remained undefeated at Page Arena with a 71-57 victory over the University of St. Thomas Saturday, Dec. 9.

The Falcons, now 7-1 overall, will travel to St. Paul to face the University of Northwestern Saturday, Dec. 16, and will play St. Olaf College Friday, Dec. 29, in Eau Claire before opening WIAC play at home against UW-Stevens Point Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 7 p.m.

Last Saturday against St. Thomas, the Falcons closed the game with a 15-5 run to post a 71-57 victory over the Tommies.

UWRF led 32-27 at the break before widening the gap to 43-33 on a layup by Austin Heidecker with 15:29 remaining. The closest St. Thomas could get in the second half was within seven, 52-45, with 8:47 left but UWRF led by double digits the rest of the wa following a Clay Seifert three-pointer with 8:26 to play.

Brennan Witt finished with 15 points and eight rebounds and Alex Herink had 14 points and eight boards to lead five Falcons in double figures in scoring. Devin Buckley added 12 points in the win and Seifert had 11 while Heidecker came off the bench to contribute 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
