Wildcat gymnasts state runners-up

State runner-up Wildcat gymnasts

The Wildcat gymnastics team scored a season-high 139.4667 to finish second to defending champion Whitefish Bay at the WIAA Division 2 State Team Gymnastics Tournament Friday, March 3, in Wisconsin Rapids.

Whitefish Bay won its second straight state title with a score of 140.7833 while River Falls finished as state runner-up for the second straight year.

Wildcat junior Sam Krueger set a new state team tournament record with a score of 9.7. Krueger will compete in the state individual competition today (March 4). She is the defending Division 2 champion in the vault and floor exercise.

Bob Burrows has been sports editor at the River Falls Journal since 1996 and at the Hudson Star-Observer since 2009. Prior to joining the Journal, Burrows served as sports editor with Ledger Publications in Balsam Lake, Wis.
