The River Falls HIgh School Class of 2021 celebrated the challenges and successes they’ve experienced together over the past four years at their graduation ceremony Friday night, June 4, at David Smith Stadium at UW-River Falls’ Ramer Field.
Two-hundred and forty-nine members of the Class of 2021 received their diplomas.
Student speaker Ela “Pari” Schlis welcomed her classmates by acknowledging the shared challenges of the past year and the memories they left before thanking her teachers “From the bottom of my heart.”
Dailyn Wold followed her classmate to the dias and noted how all the seemingly unrelated events shared by the graduates-- from the pandemic to social unrest-- should spur them to take control of their own futures. “You may not know it yet, but you will be amazing at something you love,” she said.
After the diplomas were awarded by school board members Robert Casey, Amy Halverson, Dr. Stacy Johnson Myers and Dr. Alan Tuchtenhagen, principal Kit Luedtke presented the Class of 2021 to the friends and family in the Ramer Field stands before a humorous reminder to the students that social media will never define their success in life. He said kindness to others should always be a priority before ending the night with an emotional, “I will always be there for you.”
