Wellhaven column: Romantic movies and comedies draw crowd to movie nights

Wellhaven tenants Mary Ann Hotka, Marie Fuchs, Ginger Aszman, Bill Ray, Bob Zenk and Marilyn Rhodes enjoy movie night Mondays and Thursdays. Comedies and romance films seem to bring the biggest crowds. Submitted photo

Twice a week Wellhaven Senior Living tenant Bob Zenk hosts a movie night. Tenants enjoy gathering in the Fireside Lounge on Monday and Thursday nights. Bob goes to the library for most of his entertainment choices, but occasionally one of the other tenants brings down a movie from their own collection.

Bob says, "I like to do it. We have fun!"

Since Bob has started hosting movie night he learned you can't please everyone. He finds romantic movies and comedies gather greater crowds.

"It's great to see the tenants engaged and picking out movies to show," said Beth Ann Schultz,

Wellhaven manager. "They like to talk about their favorites and sometimes even show a movie they've seen before."

Join us for a Memory Café on July 31 at 10 a.m. This event is free to the community for those who have memory loss or are caregiving for a loved one with memory loss. The event is hosted at West Wind Supper Club (709 N. Main St., River Falls).

Want to volunteer like Mr. Zenk? All are welcome to share their talents and time with our tenants.
