Harlan E. Black, 72, of Colfax. WI, died December 29th, 2017 at home surrounded by family.

Harlan was born to Willard and Louise (Willett) Black on January 24th, 1945 in Century, FL. Harlan was the oldest of four sons. On June 12th, 1971 Harlan married Lucille K. Butler in Amery, WI.

Harlan graduated from River Falls High School in 1963. Harlan attended the University of WI, River Falls before starting his career as a customer service representative with the airlines. Harlan's career with the airlines gave him many opportunities to travel our great country and opportunities eventually lead him to Panama City, FL, where he and Luci started their family. The southern lifestyle and culture were a natural fit for Harlan as he traveled down south to visit family often throughout his life.

Harlan enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, children, wife and family. Harlan had a passion for history, not only American History but his family history. During his retirement, Harlan spent many hours researching, learning and writing on his family lineage.

Harlan is survived by his wife Lucille K. Black, his two sons Adam J. Black and Aaron C. (Jeanette) Black; five grandchildren Aaliyah, Asher, Brooklyn, Kaelyn, Eilyn and one great granddaughter Aubree; his three brothers, Terrance (Joy), Thomas (Carrie) and Christopher (Judy); and many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends,

Harlan was proceeded in death by his parents, Willard and Louise and two infant children.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church of River Falls, WI. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. Inurnment of Harlan's remains will take place at a later date at Balsam Lutheran Cemetery, Amery, WI.
