River Falls will salute veterans

River Falls Legion Post 121 will mark Memorial Day with a community program at Greenwood Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday, May 31.

Before the program, the community will make visits to several area cemeteries as follows:

  • 7 a.m. Kinnickinnic

  • 7:30 a.m. Mann Valley

  • 8 a.m. Glass Valley

  • 8:20 a.m. Cherma 

  • 8:45 a.m. St. Bridget

  • 10 a.m. Greenwood Cemetery community program 

Special use permit authority might shift

The River Falls City Council will consider the first reading of a local law change so that the Plan Commission becomes responsible for granting special use permits.

This change reflects a 2017 state law regarding zoning.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Climb a wall

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is between sessions. There's no better time than a rainy spring day to check out Open Boulder.

Highway 35 update

Work continues on Highway 35 through Hudson and North Hudson. 

This week crews will be continuing work on the sanitary sewer near the wastewater treatment plant. The work is set to finish this week. 

Crews will begin working on the lighting system upgrades from Coulee Road to Vine Street. Work will continue on the pedestrian ramp replacement, and ideally finish this week. 

Water and sanitary main work will be done between St. Croix Street and Division Street. 

In North Hudson, water and sanitary sewer will be worked on between Monroe Street and Michaelson Street.
