Sari Althoff, activities director of the Kinnic Health and Rehab Center receiving holiday cards for each resident from River Falls Rotarian Linda Yde. Submitted.

Karla Thoennes and Linda Yde initiated a Rotary service project this winter of giving holiday cards to residents who require 24/7 care in the Kinnic Health and Rehab and Comforts of Home facilities. Rotarians were asked to bring cards to a Rotary meeting and on Tuesday morning, Nov. 30, a holiday message was written on 98 cards. These cards were delivered to the two facilities on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

(l to r) Darlene Ardnt, Linda Rae Kelly and Kathy Goldan receiving holiday cards from Linda Yde of River Falls Rotary. Submitted.

“I knew that the Rotarians would come through – both with unused cards and with signing the cards – because that's what Rotarians do,” Yde said. “What was heartwarming was how appreciative both activity directors were to receive the cards for distribution. It was a good experience and I met new friends by doing this.”

Some other Rotary projects include city signage, public benches, park cleanup, support for Our Neighbors Place backpack program, Sharing Families, playground equipment for the Tri-angels playground in Hoffman Park, highway cleanup and notes to elementary teachers.

The River Falls Rotarians meet the first, second, third and fifth, Tuesdays at 7 a.m. with the fourth Tuesday at noon at the Ezekiel Church, 202 S. Second St., River Falls.
