Meeting Watch RTSA

The Village Board of Roberts met on Aug. 9 to discuss some routine approvals and updates. This comes at the beginning of a month of many meetings.

Public Comment

Rod Cook of Hudson asked the Village Board during public comment if an environmental impact study is set to be done in relation to the Mallard Project proposal. It is unclear at this time what exactly that will look like.

Dan Funk of Warren stated that he sees a need for the developers to provide a greater percentage of the cost of the project into solving the flooding of Twin Lakes. As of right now, about $1.5 million has been proposed to address studies addressing flood mitigation, installation of emergency flood plans, identifying alternative waste water discharge locations and storm runoff.

The attorney present representing Ryan Companies stated that the Mallard Project is complying with the same building and development standards as required by the Village and that many comments and concerns raised by the community will be addressed at a meeting that will be held Thursday, Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Roberts Park Building.

State law provides villages with the opportunity to apply to the board of a county levying a tax for public library services to be exempt as long as the municipality's library levy exceeds a certain amount. The Village board approved a request for this application.

The director of the library noted that tomorrow, weather permitting, the Joyful Brass community band will perform at an outdoor concert at the library.

WasteWater Treatment Plant and Clearas Update

An update on the WasteWater Treatment Plant Project to the Clearas System was presented. Some piping was installed incorrectly causing algae not to perform as it should. That issue was solved and the system should be back to running speed in about two weeks.

Upcoming Meetings

There will be a Mallard Project Informational Meeting held on Thursday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Roberts Park Building, 312 N. Park St. This is not an official meeting and no minutes or action will be taken.

A public hearing will also be held before the Village Board on Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall. This hearing is to consider the ordinance to “amend the Joint Comprehensive Plan

for the purpose of updating and modifying the future land map incorporated in the plan.” To obtain a copy of the proposed updates, contact the Roberts Village Clerk. A Village Board meeting is scheduled to follow the hearing and action may be taken.

The Village of Roberts Plan Commission is set to host a public hearing Aug. 26, 2021 at 6 p.m. at Village Hall to discuss various amendments.
