UWRFR Greenhouse RTSA

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls greenhouse provides hands-on experience to students studying horticulture and agricultural sciences. Located behind the Agricultural Science building, the greenhouse is managed by Dan Waletzko in the Plant and Earth Science Department.

Commencement came May and went, but University of Wisconsin-River Falls horticultural students keep it blooming.

The spring plant sale will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 7. Sponsors are the honorary horticulture fraternity Pi Alpha Xi and the UWRF Greenhouse.

A variety of hanging baskets, 4-1/2 inch potted plants, bedding plants, perennials, plants for pollinators, the new 'Beacon' impatiens, vegetables and herbs will be available.

Checks or credit card only. Masks and physical distancing required.

The sale will conclude Friday, May 14, when the hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

St. Croix County looks to 2022 budget

The St. Croix County Board will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 4. 

Supervisors will discuss the 2022 budget priorities, including health insurance, employee compensation, new position and operating expenses. They will also look at updating personnel policies and renewing a lease agreement with the St. Croix County Fair. 

Public Health will present a COVID-19 disease activity summary and give an update on vaccine distribution efforts. 

The chair will make appointments to committees. 

Octagon House Museum open

The St. Croix County Historical Society’s Octagon House Museum has opened for the season. 

The museum is open May through October for tours. Tours are available hourly by appointment on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The Octagon House is the former home Judge John Shaw Moffat, who moved to Hudson in 1854 with his family. The house was the home to four generations of Moffat-Hughes. The Victorian era home features a full look at 19th century life.

Job fair set at River Falls Public Library

RIVER FALLS -- More than a dozen area businesses -- from manufacturers to hospitality companies -- are hiring. The Workforce Resource in St. Croix and Pierce counties will hold an in-person job fair 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at the River Falls Public Library.

Connect with local employers and meet with Workforce Resource staff for tips on job searching and resume writing


The event is free and registration is required.
