Sports physicals, concussion baseline screening offered at RF Clinic
The Allina Health River Falls Clinic is offering sports physicals and ImPACT™ concussion baseline screening appointments on July 25, Aug. 5 and Aug. 12. Appointments are available from 3-6:30 p.m. on those dates.
Sports physicals help determine whether it's safe for a child or adolescent to participate in physical activity. Most schools require a sports physical. Concussion baseline screening is a tool used later if an athlete suffers a head injury to determine how serious it might be.
"Before you start an activity, we can conduct a concussion baseline test to measure your neurocognitive performance baseline," said Dr. Amaris Moore, a family practice and sports medicine physician at Allina Health River Falls Clinic. "Then if you sustain an injury, a post-injury test is given and compared to the baseline. An ImPACT baseline test doesn't reduce the chances of getting a concussion, but it can help assess injury in the event of a future concussion."
Appointments can be made online at allinahealth.org/riverfallsclinic or by calling 715-307-6600.
