Sherri D. West, 58, of Salem, Ore., died Wednesday, Feb. 12.

She was born in Pomona, Calif., to Charles R. Jenkins and Margot J. Luichinger Jenkins, on June 1, 1955.

She earned a BA in Anthropology from Macalester College while participating in Macalester's Adult Scholar program, and received the Margaret Mead Award from the Anthropology Department. She was a resident of River Falls from 1990 through 2002, where she was a support staff member of UWRF's Graduate Office, and was active with the Whole Earth Food Cooperative.

She served as a staff member with the Girl Scout Council serving St. Paul and the western region of Wisconsin (now known as Girl Scout Council of Minnesota River Valleys), and later with USA Girl Scouts Overseas, based in Heidelberg, Germany. Her assignments included Membership Development, Adult Training Coordinator, and she also served as a volunteer Girl Scout Troop Leader in River Falls, Wis., which culminated in a troop trip to Ireland, England, and Iceland. Two members of her troop earned the Silver Award. Her areas of assignment in Europe included portions of western Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Italy.

Upon her return from Germany, she and her husband, Glenn, relocated to Salem, Ore., where she became a Training Coordinator and Public Relations Coordinator for the Oregon State Building Codes Division.

She is survived by her spouse, Glenn; a son, Ryan and spouse Jacqueline Cobian West in Red Wing, Minn.; two daughters, Sarah West and spouse Ethan Schowalter-Hay in Portland, Ore., and Amelia West and fiance' Michael Eckblad in Brooklyn, N.Y.,; her parents; 3 brothers; and a sister.
