Don Mueller, 81

Donald D. Mueller, age 81, of River Falls, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at his residence.

He was born in River Falls on Jan. 19, 1929, son of Harry and Myrtle (Ellsworth) Mueller. Don married the love of his life, Gloria P. Levin, on March 26, 1955. To this union, three daughters were born: Holly, Heidi and Lori.

Don was born on the family farm in Kinnickinnic Township. Don bought the family farm from his dad in 1965 and remained there until the time of his death. He was a professed farmer and operated a Grade A dairy farm and also raised beef and hogs. He had a strong compassion toward animals including farm dogs and cats. Not only did he take pride in his field crops, but also in having fantastic vegetable gardens that produced an early harvest.

He enjoyed spending time with his family on vacations and at their cabin. Family was very important to him. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all had the privilege of enjoying his unconditional love and support for many years. Over the years, he also helped to shape the lives of many young men by adopting them into his extended family. Maintaining existing friendships as well as meeting new people was very important to Don. He felt you could never have too many friends, thus his ability to talk and socialize gained him many new acquaintances. If you wanted to hear words of wisdom, he would gladly share them.

Don was an all around sports enthusiast in which he enjoyed participating in boxing during his early years, and enjoyed Nascar Races, horse races, deer hunting, farmers golf league, water-skiing, snow skiing, bowling, card games with friends, and many other activities throughout his life. Sitting still was not an option for Don.

He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the River Falls Masonic Lodge.

Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria; three daughters, Holly (Bryce) Ness, Heidi Mueller, and Lori Schuman; four grandchildren, Kelly (Chuck) Peskar, Katie and Kaylah Ness, and Lauren Revsbech; two great-grandchildren, Austen Bartholomew and Bailey Peskar; a sister, Loris Paulson; and further survived by numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant child; his parents; a sister, Leona Frohlich; and much-loved cat, Precious.

Funeral services for Don will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, at the United Methodist Church in River Falls with Rev. Janet Ellinger officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 17, at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at church.
