Blood drives driven by dedicated volunteers, like Polly
Longtime blood drive organizer Polly Wymer, 96, of River Falls, takes a break from her canteening station at the American Red Cross blood drive Thursday, Nov. 15 at River Falls American Legion. Wymer has been involved in canteening and organizing this drive for more than 40 years. Hosting and blood drives are very important, as Red Cross is pushing to increase supply levels, which have been strained from hurricanes and typically see a dip around the holidays, said Red Cross communications representative Justin Kern.
"And this drive is traditionally a big success because of dedicated locals like Polly," Kern said.
The drive continues Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and walk ins are welcome.
