Wellhaven column: A visit to a local farm
Wellhaven Senior Living tenants enjoyed an afternoon on the farm Sunday, July 29, when they visited Judith Hanson's farm. Hanson's aunt lives at Wellhaven and thought our tenants would
enjoy seeing the farm and its horses.
"It was beautiful," said Donna Anding, a tenant at Wellhaven. "I used to live on a farm so it was really nice to go."
In addition to experiencing the farm and smelling the flowers in the garden, tenants interacted with the animals. Terry, the party poodle, greeted tenants before the horses made their appearance and stole the show.
The horses did tricks including playing with large balls. After they entertained tenants, the horses stayed with tenants for petting.
Judith and her husband, Jim, served their visitors refreshments and cookies.
"It was a pretty farm," said Marilyn Rhodes, a tenant at Wellhaven. "It was a very nice trip."
"Taking tenants on field trips to local parks and farms is a treat," said Laura Swanson, activities
coordinator. "We are thankful for Judith and Jim's hospitality. The tenants couldn't stop smiling and talking about the experience."
