People watch from the plaza at First National Bank of River Falls Field as fireworks explode over Hoffman Park to kick off the city’s 45th River Falls Days festival Thursday night, July 11. The fireworks display, previously held on Sunday evening, lit up the sky Thursday at dusk to kick off the weekend and celebrate this year's theme: The Greatest Show on the Kinni. Activities continue throughout the weekend, including the centerpiece of the annual celebration, the annual River Falls Days Parade, Friday, July 12, on North Main and Second streets at 6:30 p.m. Bob Burrows / RiverTown Multimedia

Bob Burrows

Bob Burrows has been sports editor at the River Falls Journal since 1996 and at the Hudson Star-Observer since 2009. Prior to joining the Journal, Burrows served as sports editor with Ledger Publications in Balsam Lake, Wis. A native of Bayonne, N.J. and a U.S. Navy veteran, Burrows attended Marquette University before completing his studies at UW-River Falls in 1992.
