Available in over 4,000 cities in the U.S., Canada, and Australia, DoorDash is a food delivery service where local businesses, drivers and hungry community members can connect on a single app. And now it’s available in River Falls. Here are some questions you may have as DoorDash enters the area:
What can I order?
Right now in the app, River Falls residents can order from McDonald’s, Mei Meis Cookies and Creamery, Little Caesars Pizza and Maverick’s Corner Saloon.
Can I become a “Dasher?”
If you are 18 or older, have a car, scooter or bicycle (in select cities), a driver’s license and social security number, you are eligible to apply to become a “Dasher."
Submit an application, complete the signup process, consent to a background check and you’ll be well on your way to delivering DoorDash orders. Once you become a “Dasher,” you’re eligible to deliver anywhere DoorDash is set up, not just in River Falls.
Can I still order delivery right from local restaurants?
Many local restaurants have their own delivery services and you can order directly from them. Their delivery employees will do the rest. If you don’t see your favorite local restaurant on the DoorDash app, check their website or give them a call to see if they have delivery services.
A business must set up a DoorDash partnership in order to work with “Dashers” on orders and deliveries.
Does a restaurant lose money from DoorDash orders?
Businesses do pay fees for different levels of subscriptions.
These different levels of commissions pay dashers, for marketing and advertising, background checks, customer support, credit card processing fees and more, according to a post from DoorDash on its blog.
Often a business will accept orders through their own systems and partner with Dashers for delivery, depending on aspects like staffing needs and community demands. Especially during the pandemic, DoorDash was an additional support for restaurants as many were only providing take-out and delivery services.
