St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center selected as finalist for prominent award

The St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center project has been selected as a finalist for

an Economic Development Initiative award. The award is part of the Community and Economic

Development Awards (CEDA) program established by the Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) to recognize businesses, projects and organizations that are making significant contributions to Wisconsin's economy. The project was nominated by the West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.

The River Falls-based St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center provides cutting-edge business resources to spark entrepreneurship and support local business growth. The $4.8 million, 31,000 square foot incubator facility will help create a more vibrant regional economy and new job opportunities in the St. Croix Valley. The facility provides extensive business support, including modern tenant space, business coaching, training and mentorships. The project, which was made possible through a successful public-private collaboration, will foster an entrepreneurial culture in the region and pave the way for new business start-ups and innovation.

The St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center project is among 17 entities nominated as a finalist for the fourth annual CEDA Awards. There are two to three finalists in each of the following six award categories: Business Retention & Expansion; Economic Development Initiative; Economic Driver; Private-Public Partnership; Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse; and Talent Development.

This Economic Development Initiative award honors innovative community and economic development efforts that successfully promote growth and prosperity in Wisconsin communities.

Finalists will be screened by an impartial panel of WEDA members and partners, and winners will be recognized at a ceremony on Sept. 12, 2018, at The Edgewater Hotel in Madison. The award event is open to the public.
