Two new members joined the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) Board of Trustees Monday evening -- L. Ronald Bartels of Bay City and Dan Ostermann of Tainter.
The odds were more than 40 million to one, and Peggy Walker beat them.
On Thursday, July 11, the George Carden Super Spectacular Circus will be performing at Wildcat Centre, 861 Cemetery Rd., in River Falls. Performances featuring elephants, tigers, aerialists, extreme circus riders and more will be at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $18, adults; and $14 for children under 12. Tickets go on sale one hour before showtime at the Wildcat Centre box office.
Hennepin Strip kingpin: Those were the days The buzz had been pretty incredible for a local book, so I waited and waited to be sent a review copy of “Augie’s Secrets: The Minneapolis Mob and The King of the Hennepin Strip,” by Neal Karlen (Minnesota Historical Society Press, $24.95). It never came so for the first time in my career I had to check out a copy from the public library. Why was I so anxious to read the book?
