PRESCOTT - The late Jaci Kosin will be a part of the second inductee class to the new Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches Hall of Fame. Kosin, who was Prescott High School’s first dance team coach, will be inducted in a ceremony to be held on Nov. 9 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. Kosin started the team in 1994 and built the Prescott dance program into a state powerhouse. From their first back-to-back titles in 1996 and 1997, Kosin’s Cardinal squads won state championships from 1999-2005. PHS currently has a streak of 14 titles in a row.

The world’s largest relay series returns to Minnesota and Wisconsin this weekend, Aug. 16-17, when over 2,600 runners from over 300 teams take part in the 203-mile long Ragnar Relay Great River from Winona to Minneapolis. The two-day overnight relay race will take participants through southeast Minnesota and western Wisconsin, including both River Falls and Hudson. Runners will begin in downtown Winona Friday, Aug.
RIVER FALLS AREA HOSPITAL Nellie Kae Johnson was born on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, to Annie and Matthew Johnson of River Falls. Also welcomed by brother, Reese; and grandparents: Mark and Mary Johnson of River Falls, and Brian and Lisa Weiss of River Falls. Lincoln James Harvey was born on Friday, July 26, 2013, to Suzanne and Michael Harvey of River Falls.
On Aug. 15, 1963, the River Falls Journal published an article, “River Falls State College Schedules Quarter Abroad.” “Thirty-one students at Wisconsin State College at River Falls will start the next school year in Europe. “They will be pioneers in a ‘Quarter Abroad’ program which may become a regular part of the River Falls curriculum. “After registration at the college, the students will fly to New York and board the ship ‘Groote Beer’ on Sept. 13 to go to several countries to work on their research projects. They will meet again when they leave Europe Nov. 26 aboard the ‘S.S.
