A 54-year-old Hudson man was arrested for his 4th DWI after allegedly running into a center median, blowing a tire, spinning into a ditch, getting out and weaving across the road while heading north on Hwy. 65. This occurred Monday evening, Oct. 28. Another driver followed to report the suspect driver was nearly running into oncoming traffic. River Falls police caught up with the driver north of County Road J in the town of Kinnickinnic. His damaged tire had fallen off. He told officers he was changing a flat.
In 1963 River Falls held a city-wide Halloween party, complete with a costume parade in the parking lot beside the new senior high school building (in 2013 Meyer Middle School building) on Ninth Street, followed by a movie and refreshments at Greenwood School. Dick Cashman, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce’s recreation committee announced a bus would travel the city picking up children and dropping them off following the party. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Barry were in charge of parade activities.
HUDSON — Area residents should be wary of businesses that offer to help obtain copies of real estate records, cautions St. Croix County Register of Deeds Beth Pabst. She said several St. Croix County residents have recently got letters from companies offering to help obtain grant deeds. Companies like this are very bold and indicate the property owner must comply and respond by a certain date, said Pabst. “Buying or refinancing a house is a huge endeavor with plenty of paperwork,” Pabst said.
First National Bank of River Falls President and CEO Jeff Johnson recently announced the promotions of Susie Swenson and Laura Thompson to the title of vice president. Swenson started with First National in August of 1978 and served in many roles before becoming the bank’s consumer loan officer. Thompson joined the FNBRF team in 1989 and also served in many positions before becoming the bank’s internal auditor.

Perhaps many of you read Axel Bogdan’s letter last week: “Don’t let state Legislature seize local town controls.” Bogdan, a Kinnickinnic town board supervisor, warned about a proposed bill by two Republican state lawmakers — Sen. Tom Tiffany, Hazelhurst, and Rep. Joan Ballweg, Markesan. Their bill would curtail local governments’ ability to set limits on nonmetallic mining — more specifically, frac-sand mining.
The UWRF Wyman Series, in collaboration with the UWRF Music Department, will present present the Croatian chamber ensemble, The Zagreb Saxophone Quartet, with special guest artist, American saxophonist Eugene Rousseau. The concert will be held on Tuesday, Nov.
