A Tennis Social Mixer and Bring Your Own Picnic event will be held in conjunction with River Falls Days this Sunday, July 14, from 3-7 p.m. at the high school tennis courts. The event, hosted by the River Falls Area Chamber of Commerce along with Dennis (4 Tennis) Ferche and high school coach David Markson, will feature spirited play and a homegrown picnic. Players of similar levels will be matched up with shared enjoyment the prize of the day.

The St. Croix County Fair Board is sponsoring a tractor caravan on Sunday, July 14, preceding this year's county fair, July 17-21. Area residents are invited to bring their tractor to the fairgrounds in Glenwood City and take part in the caravan. The group will line up at 9 a.m. for coffee and donuts, and then leave at 10 a.m. for a 20- to 25-mile ride along the scenic roads of the Glenwood City area. Tractors can be any make, model or year. Tractors need to go a minimum of 8 mph and have good brakes and a slow-moving-vehicle sign.
After months of heated debate about the Bellevinez Winery, the Clifton Town Board voted Tuesday night, July 2, to recommend to Pierce County a conditional use permit for the winery -- minus the proposed restaurant.
The 2012 River Falls Royal Ambassadors will be passing on their titles to four new Royal Ambassadors Thursday, July 11, during River Falls' annual city-wide summer celebration, River Falls Days. On June 26, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced the preliminary May 2013 unemployment rates for Wisconsin’s 72 counties. St. Croix County’s rate was estimated at 4.4%, which is lower than April’s rate of 5.2% and March’s rate of 6.1%. One year ago, the county’s unemployment rate was estimated at 4.9%.
