Arthur G. Hazen, age 87, of Neenah, Wis., and formerly of River Falls, Wis., died on March 13, 2010, at the Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah. Art was born the son of Herbert and Helena (Luther) Hazen on August 29, 1922, in Weyauwega, Wis. He graduated from Weyauwega High School with the class of 1942. After high school, Art enlisted in the Army. After 3 years of service, he held a few different jobs in Chicago, Ill., before re-enlisting in the Army Air Corps.
Terry Getzie, 50, died April 22, 2010, at his home in Roberts, Wis. Terry was born on June 19, 1959, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Ronald and Glenda Getzie. He worked as an auto mechanic for years and most recently worked for United Gear in Hudson, Wis. Terry enjoyed football games and being with friends. He is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Travis, Chad, and Jerad; father, Ronald; brothers, Dennis and Mike; and sister, Cindy Fuhrmann. He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda Getzie, on Sept.
Catherine Sunde, age 88, of New Richmond, Wis., died April 23, 2010, at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Catherine was born on Feb. 28, 1922, in River Falls, Wis., to William J. and Julia A. (Fahey) McManus. Catherine has lived in the New Richmond area for several years. She and her husband moved here from River Falls in 1987 where she worked as a store manager with Ben Franklin's. Although Catherine loved bridge, her true game was 500. She loved reading and doing various crafts year round. Catherine was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed politics.
Margaret Mae Osen, age 93, of Roberts, formerly of River Falls, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at American Heritage Care Center. She was born April 8, 1917, in Platteville, Wis., daughter of William and Grace (Derr) Owens. Margaret graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1935. She married Clarence Osen on July 10, 1943; he preceded her in death on April 13, 1999. Margaret will be fondly remembered for her passion for sewing, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, crazy patchwork, gardening, and spoon painting, along with playing cribbage and fishing for sunnies.
Cally Jo Miller, age 36, of River Falls, Wis., died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in River Falls. She was born Jan. 21, 1974, in Cumberland. She was raised and attended school in Prairie Farm where she graduated in 1992. She was employed with LTCG where she worked with the disabled and was also a massage therapist. Cally loved animals, especially her cat Nala. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a very loving and caring person.
Frederick W. Riehle, formerly of River Falls, died Monday, April 19, 2009 at Caring Bridge of Eagan, Minn., following a short illness. He was 91. Fred and his late wife Bernadette (1993) were familiar to many as long-time owners of the River Falls Motel and members of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Fred later worked a repairman at Lund's Hardware, and volunteered at River Falls Public Library and local schools.
Royce Frederick Baar died of the esophageal cancer at 3:30 a.m. on April 19, 2010, at the age of 56 at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Royce has many accidents in his lifetime that could have been fatal, but over and over again he survived.
Mary Jane Jessie Muckenhirn was born Feb. 20, 1920, in North Hudson, Wis., to Inga Peterson Muckenhirn and Michael Leo Muckenhirn. She had three older siblings, Leona, Virgil and Virginia, and two younger siblings, Jeanette and Lester. Surviving are four children: Mary Ann Anderson and husband, Orin, of Albuquerque, N.M.; Judy Tostrud and husband, Jim, of River Falls, Wis.; Karen Turnbull and husband, John, of Boulder, Colo.; and Don Evenson of North Hudson.
Marilyn Ruth Campbell, age 82, of River Falls, Wis., died peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the River Falls Area Hospital. Marilyn was born on July 1, 1927, in Fillmore County, Minn., the daughter of Elmer and Della (Kidd) Nelson. She married David Campbell in 1950 in the Fillmore Church. Marilyn taught in elementary education throughout her career; her last teaching position prior to retirement was in Tuba City, Ariz.
Clifford P. Swanson Jr., a wonderful father and loving husband, passed away April 17, 2010. Cliff was born to Ruth and Clifford Swanson Sr. on Dec. 30, 1930, in Hastings, Minn. Cliff was raised a farmer, which anyone who knew him, understood that animals and farms were his passion. He was raised in a loving home with two brothers, James and Charles, and five sisters, Lucille, Lois, Carol, Janet (precedes Cliff in death) and Roberta. Cliff met his wife Clarissa (Snook) Swanson at Hastings High School where he graduated, and they were married on Feb. 23, 1952.
