Lynn Stock, 90, of River Falls, died per his wishes at his farmstead in the town of Troy following a brief illness. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson with Father Dan Dahlberg officiating. Music was provided by the parish's Hope Choir. Interment was in the church cemetery with Mr. Stock's cousins as casket bearers. Funeral services were entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.
Patricia A. "Pat" Robole, 62, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at her home, following a battle with cancer. Mrs.
Myrtle A. Johnson, 100, of Baldwin and originally of River Falls, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Baldwin Care Center. A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 11, at Historic Woodside Place in rural Baldwin with Pastor Paul Lovestrand officiating. Burial was in the Woodside Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Baldwin Care Center and Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
Donavon A. "Donnie" Dahms, of Hamilton, Mont., and formerly of River Falls, died on Thursday, July 2, 2009. His death was due to cancer caused by Agent Orange exposure. He was 61 years old. The son of Eunice and Elmer (Pete) Dahms, Donnie was born in Spring Valley, and graduated from River Falls Senior High in 1965. A Vietnam veteran, Donnie served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. He was part of the 2nd Armored "Hell on Wheels" Division and a member of the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, "Blackhorse." Donnie was a handyman who could fix or build just about anything.
Dana Lynn Berndt, 46, of Bloomington, Ill., went to be with Jesus on Thursday evening, July 2, 2009, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Dana was born on May 24, 1963, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Gary and Judy Reno Lewis. She spent most of her adult life as a daycare provider and household engineer. Dana enjoyed scrapbooking and numerous other crafts.
Harold D. Morrow, 73, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009, at his home. He was born on Jan. 24, 1936, son of Vernon and Katherine (Trebus) Morrow. He was united in marriage to the late Joanne Engel on Sept. 28, 1957, and they had three sons, Tom, Jim and Tim. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid card player, playing poker every Friday night.
Betty Joy Young, 81, of Beldenville, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the Baldwin Area Medical Center. Mrs. Young was born April 19, 1928, in Cornell, the daughter of Ernest and Lillian (Warnberg) Helmer. She married Donald Young on Dec. 13, 1948. She was an avid gardener and quilter, and enjoyed walking and being surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. Mrs.
Shirley Ann Rogers, 81, died peacefully in her home in River Falls on Tuesday, June 30, 2009,from complications of renal failure. She was born on Sept. 19, 1927, to Hulda and David Miller, and spent her childhood in Kansas City with her seven siblings: Ruth, Helen, Bud, Mildred, Warren, Myra and Ben. She married Mitchell Rogers and was employed until her retirement at the University of Minnesota as an admissions clerk. She had a passion for cooking that was unsurpassed and in retirement enjoyed catering parties with her son Miller.
Douglas A. "Doug" Hughes, 65, of Hammond, passed away due to a heart attack on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at United Hospital in St. Paul. He was born the son of Wendell and Mona "Betty" (Graham) Hughes on March 7, 1944. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Doug was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Hawkins on Sept. 14, 1966, in Denver, Colo. They would be blessed with two children, Steven and Stacey. Doug retired as a quality control manager from Superior Wall manufacturing in 2006.
Myrtle A. Johnson, age 100 of Baldwin, formerly of River Falls, died peacefully Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Baldwin Care Center. Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at Historic Woodside Place, rural Baldwin. Burial in the Woodside Cemetery in rural Baldwin. Visitation on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin and one hour prior to the services at church Saturday afternoon. Memorials preferred to Baldwin Care Center and Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
