Mervin "Mick" Auchampach, age 90, of Red Wing, formerly of Ellsworth, died Jan. 20, 2011, at the Red Wing Health Center. He was born on May 15, 1920, in River Falls, to Lender and Alice (Best) Auchampach. He attended school in River Falls. Mervin married Inez Bernice Gutting on Feb. 3, 1944, in Hastings. They lived in Ellsworth for many years. He worked at the Co-op Creamery in Ellsworth for 38 years, retiring in 1982. In 1984 they moved to Red Wing. Inez died Sept. 15, 1998. He married Elvira Hardy on Jan. 2, 2000. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Marjorie E. Ranum, 91, of Eldon, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at her residence. She was born July 7, 1919, in Long Prairie, Minn., to Nicholas Charles and Cecil Leora (Fisher) McColley. On July 17, 1990, she was married to Raleigh Ranum, who has been deceased since March 2, 2002. Mrs. Ranum attended school in Long Prairie.
Roy Traynor, age 84, of Baldwin, formerly of Woodville, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Baldwin Care Center. Funeral service for Roy Traynor will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Burial with full military honors provided by the Woodville American Legion Lost will be in the Sunset Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin and 1 hour prior to service Saturday morning at church. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers and will be used to further Roy's passions in life.
Henry "Hank" Nolte, age 81, of Hammond, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Hank was born on May 7, 1929, in Wadena, Minn., the son of Henry and Louise (Ploenzke) Nolte. Hank attended the Sebeka School District. While growing up, he worked on the farm alongside his father. Hank was drafted into the Armed Forces and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On Feb. 10, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ruth Wells at the Methodist Church in Rochester. This union would be further blessed with two children: Susan and Larry.
Harley Lynwood Danforth, long-time resident of Mahtomedi, Minn., passed away on Jan. 17, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born Oct. 19, 1924, in St. Paul, Minn. Preceded in death by parents, Harold and Ruth (Griswold) Danforth, and twin sister, Mary Jean (Danforth) Collins. Survived by wife, Mary Josephine "Jo" (Robertson) Danforth, and children, Al (Pam), John, Mary Houle, Robert (Lisa) and Sarah (Kevin Short).
Eleanor E. Albertson, age 94, of Hammond, Wis., and formerly of rural Woodville, Wis., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 15, 2011, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. Funeral services for Eleanor Albertson will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Woodville with Pastor Wayne Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the church. Services entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, Wis., 715-684-3434.
Pearl Faye Wrase, age 81, of River Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at United Hospital, St. Paul, Minn. Pearl was born on Aug. 21, 1929, in Preston, Minn., the daughter of Christian and Delma (Yaste) Frazer.
Constance Schollmeier, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Our House Assisted Living Facility in River Falls after a courageous battle with cancer. Connie was born on Dec. 24, 1927, in the Town of Alma. After graduating from Cochrane High School, she worked at Watkins in Winona, Minn. She married Glenn Schollmeier on Oct. 9, 1948. Following several moves, they settled in River Falls in 1958.
Timothy David Herum, Jan. 21, 1960 - Nov. 5, 2010. Tim Herum was taken home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday evening, Nov. 5, 2010. He was 50 years old. Tim was born in Hudson, Wis., on Jan. 21, 1960. He graduated from River Falls High School in 1978 and attended the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. Tim was an extremely intelligent man who was a professional computer programmer, mathematics wizard, wine expert, restaurant owner, pilot, and a deacon at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Marjorie B. Mittelstadt died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011. While surrounded by her family and loved ones, Marge (aka: mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, friend) got her wings. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at First Congregational Church in River Falls. Visitation will also be Saturday from 12-2 p.m. before the service at church.
