Margaret Marie Schultz, age 89, of Roberts, and resident of the Heritage Care Center in Hammond, passed away at the Hudson Hospital on Wednesday night, March 30, 2011. A funeral service for Margaret will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Delbert Permann officiating. Private burial will follow at the Warren Cemetery in Roberts. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Marlys Sophie Dusek, age 73, of St. Paul, passed away after a short battle with cancer at St. Therese at St. Odilia in Shoreview, Minn., on March 28, 2011. She was born March 21, 1938, to George and Sophia (Cobian) Dusek in Clifton Township. She was one of the twins that were the last born in the old farm house. She was schooled in the Oak Knoll schoolhouse, and she graduated from River Falls High School. After high school, she went to work at Brown and Bigalow in St. Paul.
Mabel Mary Svec, age 92, of Hudson, formerly of Ellsworth, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Hudson Hospital, Hudson, Wis. Mabel was born on Aug. 5, 1918, in the town of Oak Grove, Pierce County, Wis., the daughter of John and Sophia (Faltiesek) Johnson. She married Earl Svec May 17, 1950. Earl passed away in 2000. Mabel, along with her husband, Earl, and sister, Arlene Armbruster, volunteered every Tuesday morning at the Ellsworth Care Center. In 1995 they were awarded with the Volunteer of the Year Award from Gov. Tommy Thompson.
Vern Rawlings, age 82, of Woodbury, Minn., formerly of River Falls, Wis., passed away March 26, 2011. Former owner of Norge Town Laundry and Dry Cleaning. Survived by Sharon Barker, best friend/loving partner for 24 wonderful years; son, Steve (Tracie); daughter, Lisa; grandchildren, Danielle, Whitney, Kayla, and Thomas; brother, Al (Fran); sister, Joanne (Duane); ex-wife, Pearl (Lee); special friends Gary (Kathy); and many other relatives. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Dale Eugene Frederick, age 80, of Roberts, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at his residence. Funeral service for Dale Frederick will be at11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at First Reformed Church in Baldwin. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin as well as 1 hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday morning. Memorials preferred.
Patricia C. Foy, age 88, of River Falls, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Comforts of Home, River Falls. Patricia was born on June 25, 1922, in the town of Troy, St. Croix County, the second daughter of John and Katherine (Fable) Ryan. She attended Oak Ridge country school, which only had one room, until the eighth grade. She was a 1940 graduate of Hudson High School. Pat received her B.S. degree in history and German from River Falls State Teachers College in 1944. She taught English and history from 1944-1947 in Frederic, Wis., and from 1947-1949 she taught English in Prescott, Wis.
Gardiner Alexander Graham, 98, of Hudson, and formerly of Roberts, Wis., died on March 17, 2011, at the Christian Community Home. A Celebration of Gardiner's Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Delbert Permann and Rev. Stephanie Anthony officiating. Burial will be at the Warren Cemetery in Roberts. Visitation will be at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725, from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 1, and for 1 hour prior to the church service.
Faye Nelson, age 68, of Roberts, Wis., died on Friday, March 18, 2011, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. Faye was born Nov. 18, 1942, in Hudson, Wis., to parents Milo Dale and Elizabeth Susie (Lewis) Wilcoxson. Faye attended schools in Hudson and graduated Hudson High School with the class of 1960. On June 30, 1962, Faye would be united in marriage to Dennis Roger Nelson at the United Methodist Church in River Falls. Their union in marriage would be blessed with four children, and over 48 years of love and laughter and family.
Edith Barber (nee Johnston), age 90, of River Falls, Wis., passed away at WellHaven on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. She was born on Oct. 21, 1920, to George and Caroline Bruegger, in Beldenville, Wis. She was married to Lloyd "Curly" Johnston for 25 years, and together they had four children. During WWII she ran Curly's Eats, a restaurant they owned. Later in life her husband passed away in 1963. She subsequently remarried Robert Barber. Edith was a loving mother and wife and enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Edith was preceded in death by her husbands, Curly and Robert.
