James Perry Forsyth, age 83, originally of River Falls and a 1945 New Richmond High School graduate, lost a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease on May 6, 2011. There will be a visitation for Mr. Forsyth from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, in the Page-Theus Funeral Home. Memorials in Jim's honor may be made to the Leesburg Partnership. Rowland Dean Klink, age 90, of River Falls, died on Monday, May 9, 2011, at Grace Health Care in River Falls. Rowland was born on June 16, 1920, on a farm near Iola, Kan., to Fred and Ida Mae (Sams) Klink. At the age of 16, after his father's death, Rowland became the head of the household. He worked at Ramsey's Department Store in Iola. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and piloted A26 and B26 attack bombers in Europe during WWII with the 386 Bomb Group. The group was honored in Belgium and France on the 50th Anniversary of D-day. Rowland and Helen traveled to Europe for the event.
Dolores Mae Rickford passed away while visiting out in Maine. She died on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Calais Regional Hospital. Dolores was born in Cooperstown, N.D., on March 13, 1928, daughter of the late Iver and Thelma (Johnson) Dahl. After graduating high school she attended college and worked as a teacher for K-8th grade. When she married Francis Rickford, she left the school to raise her family and help on the family dairy farm. After retiring, Dolores worked local jobs including at the local deli and decorating cakes. Dolores was active and enjoyed doing church work.
James Lee Magnuson of Hanapepe, Kauai, Hawaii, formerly of St. Paul, Minn., and Great Falls, Mont., died in a light sport aircraft accident in the Pacific Ocean Feb. 15, 2011. He was a building contractor, owner of Big Sky Kauai, and former Marine. He is survived by his wife, Cherie; parents, Ray and Virginia Magnuson of River Falls; sons, Justin of Missoula, Mont., Joseph and Nick of Great Falls; sister Hilarie Duval of Prescott, Wis.; brothers Larry (Linda) Magnuson of Hudson, Steve (Jacque) Magnuson of Muskego, Wis., and Rob (Heidi) Magnuson of Hastings, Minn.; uncle Robert Bargy of St.
Wallace "Doc" John Kummet, age 85, of River Falls, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Grace Health Care Center, River Falls. Doc was born on Nov. 27, 1925, in Rice Lake, Wis., the son of William and Exzillia (Crotteau) Kummet. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later went on to become a chiropractor. Doc is survived by his sister Bette (Lawrence) Lewis, Rockford, Ill. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and the Flanscha family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lea Vearn; sisters Phyllis and Elaine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 6 p.m.
Judith Baird, age 69, of River Falls, died April 25, 2011, at United Hospital in St. Paul. No funeral services will be held.
Donna M. Frye, age 74, of Hudson, died on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. She was born the daughter of Armand and Dorothy (Zelle) Marleau on May 23, 1936, in St. Paul. She was a graduate of Monroe High School in St. Paul. On Aug. 25, 1956, Donna was united in marriage to Eldon Frye at St. Peter's Catholic Church in North St. Paul. They would be blessed with three sons: Paul, Jim, and Mark. Donna worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
Donald E. "Donnie" Scholl, age 66, of Hudson, died peacefully Saturday, April 30, 2011, at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. Gene Murphy officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and 1 hour prior to the Mass at church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Memorials are preferred. Funeral services have been entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
Beatrice "Bea" Catherine Richard, age 88, of River Falls, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Grace Health Care (formerly Kinnic Long Term Care). She was born to Delbert and Mary Slyter on Nov. 25, 1922, in Bottineau, N.D. At the age of 12, Bea lost her mother in a tragic accident. Her father later married Emma Dolezal. Bea graduated from Bottineau High School and attended nursing school. Bea married Ernest "Ernie" Richard on May 16, 1944. After many happy years of farming in Dunseith and Souris, they moved to Bottineau where she worked as a nursing assistant at St. Andrew's Hospital.
Annabelle passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in River Falls. She was born to William and Mary (Webster) McAleavey in Pierce County, Wis., on June 2, 1915. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1933, then graduated from River Falls State Teachers College in River Falls, Wis. She taught country schools in Pierce County until her marriage to Marvin H. Hauth of Big River at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Clayfield, on June 12, 1940. She and Marvin made their home in River Falls.
