Carol J. (Jahr) Aaron, age 60, of Hammond, Wis., died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at her home. Carol was born on Oct. 29, 1950, in Spring Valley, Wis., to Marvin and Gladys (Johnson) Jahr. She worked at the Lyndon Health Care Center for 21 years. Carol loved her family, riding the Harley, fishing, camping, going to the deer hunting shack, and just being outdoors.
Thomas J. Pfremmer Sr., of River Falls, Wis., age 91, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011, in River Falls. He was born on Oct. 23, 1919, to Harold and Lillian (Wilbright) Pfremmer in Preston, Minn. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in France and England. Thomas married Audrey Hanstein on Aug. 17, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo. They moved to Wisconsin in 1947. He was employed at the 3M plant in Cottage Grove, Minn., for 27 years and retired from there in 1984. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Thomas enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and being outdoors.
Kenneth Sand Coulson of Frostproof, Fla., died April 13, 2011. He was born on Jan. 27, 1923, to Clarence and Mabel (Sand) Coulson. Kenneth grew up on a farm in Pierce County, Wis., and graduated from Ellsworth High School, class of 1941. He married Marjorie Arline Hulverson on May 3, 1947. Kenneth enlisted in the Air Force and served 20 years active duty. He farmed for 15 years in Pierce County.
Orin C. Knoblauch (Cap), age 72, of Phoenix, Ariz., died at home in his sleep on April 11, 2011. He was born May 15, 1938, in Prescott, Wis., to Clarence and Blanche (Wolf) Knoblauch. He attended Sunnyside grade school and graduated from Prescott High School with the class of 1956. In 1981 he married Mary (Conzemius) Lichtscheidl in Las Vegas and later moved to Phoenix, Ariz.
Kim Paul (nee Reinhardt), age 50, of Baldwin, died peacefully Thursday, April 14, 2011, at her residence. Funeral service for Kim will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2526 80th Ave., Woodville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, as well as 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday morning. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers and will be used for her children's secondary college education and children requiring special education.
Evelyn "Evie" Griffin, age 86, of River Falls, formerly of St. Paul, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Lutheran Home. She was born the daughter of Edward and Selma (Stevenson) Hofland on April 18, 1924, in Wheeler, Wis. On July 18, 1953, she married William Griffin in California. Evie was a beautician for many years, working in and outside of her home.
Beverly Jean Peterson, age 79, of River Falls, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011, at Grace Health Care of River Falls, Wis. She was born the daughter of Harold and Mildred (Haugen) Vought on Nov. 27, 1931, in Windom, Minn. She graduated from Rosemount (Minnesota) High School, and worked for many years as a purchasing agent with the Army Corps of Engineers in St. Paul. From her marriages to Keith Nelson and Sig Peterson, Bev would be blessed with eight children. Bev's favorite pastime was dancing.
Marilyn Mae (Marsh) Nelson of River Falls, Wis., died April 9, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in River Falls. She was born on Aug. 14, 1931, to Coyde and Bertha (Pedersen) Marsh in Beldenville, Wis. Marilyn grew up on the family farm, and graduated class of 1949 from River Falls High School. She married Howard Nordhal Nelson on June 20, 1949. Marilyn retired as a supervisor for the State of Minnesota Highway Department after nearly 30 years. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, taking several international trips; playing games and cards; and being a Dane.
Joan Claire Alton died April 5, 2011, 5 days before her 80th birthday. She was one of the longest living persons in the nation with Down Syndrome. Joan was born April 10, 1931, in River Falls, to Thomas Leroy and Clara (Wallin) Alton. Her father was a well-known farmer and businessman in the community. The family lived in a house that still stands on the 400 block of East Elm Street. In 1939, the family moved to Alaska, and in 1942 they settled in Oakland, Calif. Joan attended public school in Oakland and achieved a remarkable level of literacy.
Catherine "Katy" Anne Giske, age 50, of River Falls, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at home, with her loving family by her side. Katy was born on Sept. 4, 1960, in River Falls, Wis., the daughter of Kirby and Dorothy "Ty" (Hoyer) Symes. She was a graduate of River Falls High School. Katy married Kenneth "Ken" Giske on Sept. 6, 1986 in River Falls. Katy loved growing up on and spending time on the St. Croix River. She also loved gardening, flowers, her (dogs, cats, and horses) pets, spending time with her family and friends, and generally the country life she and Ken lived.
