The 50th annual UW-River Falls Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-14, at the outdoor rodeo arena at the Campus Farm on the corner of Wasson Lane and Cemetery Road. Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The public is invited. Ticket prices are $12/adults; $8/children under 12 and UWRF students; children age 4 and under are free. Food will be available for purchase at the concession stand. Tickets purchased prior to the show will be $2 off the listed prices.

The city of River Falls Residential Parking law goes into effect Sept. 1 and last through May 31 for Zones A and B. Zones A and B will be enforced from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays. These two zones – north of East Cascade Avenue -- require parking permits. There is no fee for the initial permit – replacement permits are $50, transfers are $10. Zone C in the Residential Parking Zone is in effect year round during the hours of 7 a.m.
For the fourth year in a row, UW-River Falls is one of the best colleges in the Midwest according to The Princeton Review. At the Aug. 14 town of Troy meeting, resident Lisa Smith, 649 Tribute Parkway, expressed concern about drivers chronically speeding through her neighborhood. Smith said most drivers going “45 miles per hour or higher” live within the neighborhood. Smith, who said she has two deaf children of her own, said she’s put up neon yellow caution signs for her yard.
School is starting Tuesday, Sept. 2 and the “big yellows" will be back on the road transporting students. Public and private elementary parents will be responsible for transporting their students on Sept. 2. All grades will start riding the buses on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
