PRESCOTT -- A rollover accident on the Hwy. 10 bridge at Prescott temporarily closed the highway as police and emergency personnel assisted a woman injured in the crash. Authorities were notified of the accident, said to be just onto the Minnesota side of the crossing, at about 7:50 a.m. The woman reportedly suffered a serious hand injury and she was transported directly to Regions Hospital in St.
A Minnesota man was taken to an area hospital Sunday night when he was ejected from the motorcycle he was riding.
A 17-year old River Falls teen was injured in a one-vehicle accident just after midnight on Saturday.
The musical group D'Boys have one goal in mind when you listen to their performances. "If you can't dance to us," said member Loren Hadenfeldt. "You can't dance." The group will take the stage during the 12th annual Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival 8 p.m., June 29. D'Boys was formed in the early 2000's, and was originally known as the Delivery Boys (the band took up the name D'Boys after their fans and locals started calling them the "D" Boys or "Da" Boys).
New Centerville United Methodist Church, 36 County Road Y, east of River Falls is hosting a Pie & Ice Cream Social, 5-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. There will be pie, ice cream, barbecues, hot dogs, coffee, lemonade, and musical entertainment.
Colleen Raye and her talented family will return to the Pierce County Fair this year. The Colleen Raye Family Show will feature Colleen Raye, Reed Grimm, Jennifer Grimm, Trey Grimm and Sophie Grimm. They will perform on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 11, and will include a large variety of music for all ages. Raye, an Ellsworth native, currently has six different theatrical productions that can be seen in Performing Art Centers, Casinos and Arts Association in the Midwest Region.
The Dunn County Sheriff's Department reported Thursday of another incident in which witnesses provided false information. A male adult reported Saturday, June 1, his 16-year-old step daughter had returned home with her hands bound. She also said she went for a walk the previous afternoon in the town of Tainter and was abducted. She claimed an unknown male had grabbed her from behind and placed a rag over her face/mouth that "smelled like alcohol".
A 40-year-old Afton, Minnesota man died Wednesday night after a boat he was riding in collided with a rockface north of Kinnikinnic State Park. David Joseph Riley was pronounced dead at the scene by Pierce County Medical Examiner John Worsing around 11:45 p.m., said Sheriff's Investigator Tom Gunderson. Gunderson stated the boat was north on the St. Croix River when it struck the rock face of the State Park beach on the Wisconsin side of the St. Croix River. Investigation indicates Patrick A. Puhalla, 46, Bayport, Minn., was the owner and operator of the boat when the accident occurred.
The Pierce County Peace Officers Benevolent Association (PCPOBA) will have its second annual golf tournament next Tuesday, June 11, at the Spring Valley Golf Course. PCPOBA was incorporated in April 2003 as a private, non-stock charitable corporation. PCPOBA is governed by a board of directors.
The year's first open house at the River Bluffs History Center in Bay City, operated by the Pierce County Historical Association will take place this weekend June 8-9, Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Watch for signs on the highway in Bay City pointing the way to the center located at W6321 E.
