Fire that heavily damaged a house at 620 Spring Street in Somerset Sunday is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal's Office and police. Somerset Fire Chief Travis Belisle said the call came in at about 9 p.m. "It was a fully involved house fire," he said. Belisle said the fire is considered suspicious and that's why the state fire marshal was called in. Additional details could not be released until the investigation is completed, he said. "I think we'll wait and see what comes of the state fire marshal's investigation and go from there," he said.
More than 2,100 Wisconsin residents have signed up to become disaster volunteers for the Red Cross since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita pounded the Gulf Coast last year. It surpasses the state's goal of adding at least a thousand new disaster volunteers after last year's hurricanes.
