An Ellsworth man was taken to Regions Hospital Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 65 and County Highway W in the town of River Falls. Pierce County sheriff's deputy Herman Kreig reports investigation determined Shaan York, 36, rear-ended a fellow southbound vehicle driven by Adam Matzek, 31, River Falls. Matzek was turning off of Hwy. 65. The accident happened at 10:43 a.m. Matzek was transported to River Falls Area Hospital with undetermined injuries. York was taken to Regions with undetermined injuries.
The pain was unbearable for Terry and Wanda Blaedorn when their youngest son, Corey, took his own life at age 22 last November.
Four people were named Most Admired Senior Citizens during the Pierce County Fair Friday morning. Jerry Kosin of Prescott, Beulah Thompson of Spring Valley and Gloria and Gordon Nelson of Ellsworth were this year's inductees. Kosin has been a member of the Pierce County Board of Supervisors since 1998. He is presently the second Vice-Chair and is chairman of the Agricultural and Extension and Land Conservation committees.

A Minnesota teenager was taken to River Falls Area Hospital Sunday afternoon following a two-car collision at the US Highway 63/County Highway N intersection. Rachael A. Lichtenberg, 18, Centerville, was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by Brandon S. Peterson, 22, Lino Lakes, who was northbound on Hwy. 63. Pierce County sheriff's deputy Ali Verges reports Peterson was attempting to negotiate a turn when his vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Matthew L. Olson, 30, Ellsworth.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced Thursday Tony A. Hurlburt, 24, Elmwood, was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury with being a felon in possession of a firearm and with possessing a sawed-off shotgun.
