RICE LAKE, Wis. -- A Rice Lake, Wis., man died after apparently following through on his threat to set off an explosion in his apartment late Sunday, authorities said. About 14 other residents of the apartment complex were evacuated by police before the explosion. The building was a complete loss after the explosion and fire, the Rice Lake Police Department reported. Rice Lake police identified the man who died as Joseph Zunker, 44.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — Heavy snow is expected to fall throughout Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 18, making travel difficult in a central and northern Minnesota. The National Weather Service expects 1 to 2 inches of snow per hour to fall in Fergus Falls, New York Mills, Wadena, Park Rapids and Bemidji this morning. In additional, travel will be difficult due to winds gusting over 40 mph at times. The weather service predicts less than an inch of snow is likely in southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

WINNER, S.D. — A Winner High School student injured in a farming accident died Wednesday night, Oct. 20, a day after getting stuck in a grain bin. Taylor Watzel, 16, of Winner, died at about 7 p.m., according to Winner Superintendent Bruce Carrier. Students gathered in the school's gymnasium Wednesday and Thursday morning to talk about the situation. Principal Gerald Witte said students and faculty are struggling with the loss.
