State Sen. Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls) announced the kickoff to her re-election campaign last week while traveling across the 10th Senate District. She will be opposed in the fall election by Democrat challenger Diane Odeen, a River Falls attorney and at-large River Falls City Council member. Citing her focus on issues affecting working families, Harsdorf expressed eagerness to continue supporting job growth, economic development and tax relief.

CrossAmerica GP LLC, is a wholly owned subsidiary of CST Brands, Inc., one of the largest independent retailers of motor fuels and convenience merchandise in North America. It is also the same company that purchased Hudson-based Erickson Oil (Freedom) in early 2015.

Blake Fry has been appointed as the next president of the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau by the organization’s Board of Directors. Fry will succeed Kim Heinemann, who retired in December after a 12-year tenure as president. Fry will begin serving as president April 23 and will be responsible for the coordination of all organizational activities, including programs, membership, employment, staff training and supervision, long-term planning, and total fiscal responsibility. “Hudson and the surrounding communities are a special place,” said Fry.

The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department reported that a hunter located a human skull in the woods at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 9) near the 2200 block of 70th Ave. in the town of Baldwin. Upon arrival, the deputies were shown to a wooded area and located a skull and other remains of a person. The area was just south of the Union Pacific railroad tracks.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two 22-year-old Hudson men killed in a one vehicle crash on Highway 12 just north of Brakke Drive in the town of Hudson early Sunday morning at about 2:50 a.m. Dead at the scene were Dylan J. Dreher, 22, and Kenneth L. Bjerkeng, 22, both of Hudson. Both men graduated with the 2011 class of Hudson High School. A 1996 Volkswagon Golf two-door hatchback, driven by one of the men was northbound on Highway 12 north of Brakke Drive.
