This gift from Santa, a monorover electric scooter, turned out to be the opposite of a gift that keeps on giving when it exploded last week. The Nesbitt family, who owned the scooter, said luckily, the fire was put out very quickly.

Our Neighbors' Place Day Center -- located near Dick's Fresh Market, and Kwik Trip on the south side of town, now provides an emergency overnight shelter for homeless people. Ruth and Paul Twomey have parked their trailer in River Falls for the past five summers. They say they first discovered the little camping area in Hoffman Park when they saw a sign along the highway. They took a look and have been here every summer since.

Lightning struck this River Falls power pole during Monday night's storm. Though the pole was damaged, River Falls Municipal Utility workers determined it is still safe to re-engergize the line
