Kinnic Health and Rehab Admissions and Marketing Director Melissa McArdle stands in one of the facility's newly-remodeled rooms. The room is part of the new Transitional Care Unit, or TCU. The nursing home always offered temporary care, but the new TCU wing will keep all temporary patients together, instead of mixing them in with long term residents.

River Falls painter Harold Henson suffered serious burns to both hands but survived a Dec. 19 fire that left his house at 212 S. Wasson Lane uninhabitable. Thanks to Harold’s efforts, his beloved dog Peanut got out alive. Three pet cats were not so fortunate. Harold’s wife of 17 years, Dr. Loretta Henson, a psychologist who offices at 123 W. Cascade Ave., was leaving work when told about the blaze.
