Wildcat sophomore Kelly Maier soars high above the balance beam at last Friday night's sectional meet at the high school gym. Maier tied for ninth with a score of 8.55 to help the Cats qualify for this weekend's WIAA state tournament in Wisconsin Rapids.

Wildcat senior Lauren Slowiak performs on the uneven bars at the Raider Gymnastics Invitational in Hudson Saturday. Slowiak returned to the Wildcat lineup for the first time this season after injuring her knee in the preseason and posted a score of 7.425 to help the Cats capture the team title.

Brian Whipple, left, and Shelly Kahut-Loomis have stepped down as coaches for the Wildcat gymnastics team after 13 years coaching together. Whipple started as an assistant in 1997 and remained with the program when Kahut-Loomis returned as the head coach in 1999. Together the pair helped guide the Cats to five state titles.
