Drivers on Main Street may have noted the addition of the new River Falls Public Library sign. The digital sign became operational Wednesday, May 22, and will be used to announce library and city events, programs, emergencies, etc. The sign, which can be operated from the event coordinator's office in the library building, was funded through a joint effort of the River Falls Library Foundation and the Library Board Trust Fund. Pierce County Courthouse trees taken down

A group between 20-30 participated in a protest Tuesday morning to save the two oak trees that have stood on the Pierce County Courthouse front lawn for generations. Among the speakers were Eleanor Oltman, Jack Hines and David Culver. Culver has been one of the most passionate speakers among those in saving the trees. The Pierce County Building Committee voted last week to remove the trees as soon as possible.
